When the dark clouds gather, find a patch of blue sky. And chase it into tomorrow. Sway Schaeffer had always known music was going to be a part of his life. It wasn't until he picked up an electric bass in high school that he thought he might actually have fun with it. Raised by classical musicians with the expectation to follow in their footsteps, Sway had gotten used to not caring what other people thought of his choices. He had made it a habit early on in his career to find the bright side to every situation, even when others—including his fellow bandmates—disagreed with his methods. Or misinterpreted them entirely. Ryan Zacherson is a moderately successful romance writer. She enjoys her quiet life and does not enjoy surprises. She's tense, suspicious, and completely thrown off by the rock star that has happened to move in next door. She's not looking for an adventure. Or a fling. Or anything really. But she keeps finding herself drawn further and further into the whirlwind that is Sway's life. For the first time ever, she feels like she can be herself... and be loved for it. When life interrupts, and reality checks back in, will what they have built together be solid enough to survive the hurricane that is part of the Double Blind Study world? Or will they be torn apart by simple doubt, drama, and pride? Brand New Sky is the sixth and final in a series of standalone novels following the lives and loves of Double Blind Study.
My Review
Brand New Sky by Heidi Hutchinson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars Some things are fated to be, no matter how hard we try to avoid them. Ryan has been able to leave her past behind her and live quite successfully as a recluse. Writing novels in the company of her dog Clive, intermittent banter with her editor Claire and the push from her tough as nails fitness neighbor Tawny, life is just fine as it is. UNTIL...Sway moves in next door to house sit. Cocky and confident, Sway is the complete opposite of shy and private Ryan. But the Universe has a plan and it involves the uniting of Ryan and Sway. Sway is super keen, but steps carefully around Ryan. She on the other and surprises herself with her desire to let Sway into her life. They both constantly learn from each other and their bond slowly grows through out the story. Just when they get to a place they are both comfortable with, their pasts come back with a vengeance. The test is can they both get through this and their relationship survive. Can the past disrupt the plans of a future together or is Destiny just too strong to destroy such a perfect love story. Ryan and Sway are very relatable characters. There is something about them that keeps you hoping and praying for them to battle through to the end! Love this book and totally fell in love with Ryan and Sway! View all my reviews
Meet Heidi:
Heidi Hutchinson was born in South Dakota and raised the exact right distance away from the Black Hills. She had an overactive imagination very early on, and wasted no time in getting most of her friends in trouble due to her unrealistic and completely ridiculous ideas. Seeing as she was so lazy and also afraid people would think she was bonkers, she didn't write down any of the story lines that played out in her daydreams. During her high school years, she took pen to paper and filled more notebooks than she is proud of with angsty, depressing, self-deprecating poetry. This led to her writing down more things: notes, ideas, character bios, plot twists that had no plot yet to twist. After years of cleaning up her own scraps of imagination with nothing solid to hold on to, she sat down and wrote the story that had been in her head the longest. Fueled by coffee and her unwavering and perfectly normal devotion to Dave Grohl, she discovered a writer living inside of her. She still lives in the Midwest, though not as close to the Black Hills as she would prefer, with her alarmingly handsome husband and their fearless child. They eat more pizza than God intended and she listens to her music the same way she lives: loudly.
