SynopsisHope Cantwell grew up believing things could be better. Growing up with an abusive father, she tried to teach her little brother differently. After ten years sheâs back, and itâs worse than she could have thought. He owes the wrong people money, and their only hope is her high school sweetheart who grew up to be a rough and tumble biker.
Trask Rivers is the Sergeant-At-Arms for the Rising Sons MC. He and Hope havenât seen each other since she went off to school and he got a job as muscle for the club. With her brother strung out on drugs and in a deep debt to the mob, Hope only has one chance: Trask.
Rough with a dark sense of humor, Trask hasnât lost his passion for Hope. Circumstance drove them apart, but it also drove them right back together, and the fire is still burning inside both of them.
If she can convince him and the Rising Sons to help her and her addict brother, she might just keep whatâs left of her family together.

Life has presented me with two paths and Iâve chosen one.

To make matters worse, influences outside my control have taken hold and are shattering my perfect world.
But some things are worth fighting for.

Sarah Davies has had what some might call a string of bad luck; she just calls it devastating. She’s suffered the loss of loved ones as well as a kidnapping, and now her family thinks she is dead. Abandoned in the middle of New Mexico with crazy werewolves chasing after her, she can only trust her companion, Vincent McKinley. As they strain to survive the wilderness and evade their assailants, Sarah finds herself unexpectedly bonding with Vincent. He is kind and caring and Sarah can see them forming something far greater than friendship. But she has lost so many loved ones in the past; it terrifies her to open her heart to anyone else.
Vincent McKinley has sworn to protect Sarah with his life, but their pursuers seem hell bent on making him break his word. Determined to keep his promise, Vincent goes to extreme lengths to keep Sarah safe. Together, they work side-by-side to devise a plan that will stop their enemies for good. As tensions mount, so do their feelings for each other. Will they get the chance to explore their emotions, or will their enemies catch up to them first?
Sarah snuggled further into the warm pillows, enjoying the heat of the heavy quilts. A steady thrum thumped beneath her ear. The sound was soothing, but she couldn’t quite place what it was. She moved her arm to hook it under her pillow.
Her digits froze as they skimmed over a fleshy, hard plain. Sarah jolted up, throwing the covers back.
The cool morning chill took her breath away. She wrapped her arms around herself and peered down at Vincent. He lay sleeping, his chest rising and falling in even breaths.
A few scars were scattered over his pecks, but, instead of taking away from his muscular torso, it made it more defined. He had a definitive six-pack and a small patch of dark hair trailed from his belly button and into the plaid pants he was wearing.
Wait! What? Why am I looking at him like that?
Averting her eyes, she surveyed the room. The bed was against the wall on her side, and the foot of the bed was positioned against the wall as well. If she wanted out, she would have to crawl over Vincent. Great!
Sarah bit her lip, and ran a hand through her gnarled golden locks.
Vincent rolled toward her, and his arm jutted out, wrapping around her hips as he buried his face into her side. Sarah froze, her breath catching in her throat. Oh my god! What is he doing?
“Stop stealing all the covers,” he murmured.
Sarah’s pulse roared in her ears as she sat unmoving. After a long moment, she heard the quiet whistling of Vincent’s snore. He was asleep. Carefully, she placed her hand over his, slowly lifting his fingers so she could wiggle out of his grasp. Once free, she stood up on her side, set his arm on the bed, and tossed the covers back over him. She inhaled sharply and closed her eyes. Praying that he wouldn’t wake up, Sarah skimmed her foot over the covers, placing it on the other side of Vincent. Sarah lifted her other foot. She was almost there she just needed to get down. A part of her wanted to stay in bed and go back to sleep in his comforting embrace. But the other part, found it unnerving that she had slept like that with him at all.
Vincent's hand shot out from under the blankets, catching her ankle in midair. A scream bubbled up her throat as she lost her balance. She landed on Vincent’s lap. His hand latched onto her hip as he rose up. She screeched as he rolled her to her back, pressing his forearm onto her throat. Sarah gasped and struggled beneath his weight.
“Sarah?” Vincent asked confused, instantly moving his arm. He shot up, straddling her as his eyes widened with horror.
She closed her eyes as she coughed.
“God, I’m sorry. I sensed movement over me. I…”
“I was trying to get out of bed. I didn’t want to wake you,” she blurted, staring up into his emerald eyes.
“I didn’t even think to check. Did I hurt you?” he asked, his eyes glancing over her.
“I’m okay,” she assured. “It could have been someone else.” And it could have been. At least he was prepared and on alert, even when he was resting.
Vincent stiffened over her and cleared his throat. Heat crept over her face, burning all the way to her ears as she realized their position. He was nestled between her thighs, his chest pressed against hers with his face mere inches away.
“Sorry,” he said as he peeled himself off of her. He got out of bed and walked to the fire, grumbling something under his breath. Vincent picked up the poker and jabbed at the ashes.
Sarah lay back into the pillows for a moment. Her body was on fire and butterflies fluttered through her belly. Her body had reacted to him and that scared her.
“Our clothes are dry,” Vincent said as he checked the clothesline that hung next to the fire. He slipped his green shirt on. “And we still have berries. Breakfast?” He turned to her with the wooden bowl of fruit in hand.
Sarah gulped, her eyes inadvertently dipping down to take in his torso again. Realizing she was checking him out, she snapped her eyes up to his. She needed to get out of this house. “Sounds good. Then let’s go for that walk. You can show me what you found.”
Sarah rested her chin on her palm as she slumped forward onto the diner’s table. She’d finished her waffles and bacon a while ago, but Vincent showed no sign of stopping. She knew that werewolves ate a lot, but seriously, where was he putting it all? His body was in prime condition. She’d felt his muscles beneath her fingertips last night—had seen his washboard abs and sculpted chest up close and personal. She shuddered as she remembered the way he’d felt pressed up against her.
A familiar ache thrummed in her core, causing her to press her thighs together If she didn’t reign in her thoughts, he was going to be able to smell the shift in her mood.
“You know,” she started, “I think you’re the reason they stopped the all-you-can-eat pancakes at the diner back home.”
“What? This is only my fifth plate,” Vincent said, confused.
Sarah laughed and shook her head. “There are three huge pancakes on each plate. That’s fifteen pancakes, Vincent.”
“Glad to see you can multiply,” Vincent teased. “I’m almost done.”
“No,” she waved her hand. “Eat. They shouldn’t have an all-you-can-eat menu option if they don’t expect people to do just that.”
Vincent took the last syrupy bite and used the napkin to wipe his face. “You know, the waitress and cook have a bet on whether I’ll order another plate or not.” “And what do you intend to do?” Sarah asked, raising her eyebrow, curiously. He couldn’t possibly eat more, could he?
“No more for me. I’m stuffed.” He patted his belly appreciatively as he gave her a lopsided grin.
Her eyes drifted down to his stomach. His red shirt covered him, but she bit her lip as she got another flash of his shirtless form in her mind. She really needed to stop thinking about him like that. Last night had been great, but he hadn’t brought it up and neither had she. She was slightly confused about where they stood. Of course, it was mostly her fault. After all, she’d fled the room before he woke up.
This friends-with-benefits thing could work for them. She just had to be careful not to get too close. That could be a challenge, but she was sure she could do it.
“You ready?” Vincent asked interrupting her thoughts as he stood up. He took a twenty out of his pocket and set it on the table.
