Welcome to the Cowboys & Christmas Blog Tour! A kick-off of new holiday romances by Shanna Hatfield ‘Tis the Season of Giving A childhood spent running free and unfettered on our Eastern Oregon farm gave me the basis for any number of exciting adventures as well as plenty of time for my active imagination to go wild. My oldest brother worked as a cowboy on remote ranches, located next door to the edge of nowhere. He’d come home to visit, carrying tales of hair-raising escapades that fueled my love of all things western. Although I eventually left home and found myself living in a big city, my heart always stayed on our farm, deeply connected to our rural roots. It was natural to turn my love of the west into sweet and clean western romances. Some of my books take place in the elegant age of the Victorian era. Others are modern day tales of love, struggle, and triumph. Because my aunt sagely told me to write what I know before I ventured off into the big world, I set my stories in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho - places with which I’m familiar. Hardman Holidays is a Victorian series set in the town of Hardman, Oregon. Now a ghost town, back in the day it was a bustling stop along the stage route. It even boasted a skating rink! The first book in the series, The Christmas Bargain, introduces the town and highlights the local banker’s attempts at wooing his unexpected bride. The second book, The Christmas Token, tells the story of his sister as she returns to Hardman to hide from an insistent suitor and rekindles an old flame. The Christmas Calamity is just-released and shares the adventures of the banker’s assistant and the prestidigitator that ends up stranded in Hardman. The idea for the Rodeo Romance series came to me while my husband and I were sitting in the Las Vegas airport waiting to catch a flight home after attending the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Watching the sea of cowboy hats in the airport sent my imagination spinning in overtime. I thought how fun it would be for a rodeo cowboy to meet a girl in an airport and fall in love. That idea turned into The Christmas Cowboy, the first book in the series featuring Tate Morgan and Kenzie Beckett. The recently released Wrestlin’ Christmas tells the story of Tate’s best friend, Cort McGraw, and the widow who captures his interest. While researching details for The Christmas Cowboy, I discovered the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund - an organization that assists professional rodeo athletes who suffer catastrophic injuries that leave them unable to work for an extended period. Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund® From Nov. 7- Dec. 24, I’ll be donating 10% of my net proceeds from all my book sales to the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund.
